The Thai Mango was started much longer than the official opening in 2013. Rojana started cooking at her family restaurant back in Bangkok, Thailand when she was a young girl of 12. For the next 10 years she was taught by her mother and generations of knowledge passed onto her. She always thought the chores of cooking for hundreds of people a day was something she didn’t want to do. So the story continues and she fell in love with a young visiting american, moved to the United States and raised her children always cooking for friends and family. It was at these dinners and gatherings that neighbors always commented that she should open up a restaurant. The thought of that brought a warm smile to her face but she focused on her family and left the those wispy memories of the Restaurant in Thailand behind.
As her children grew up and left the house she missed those neighborhood dinners, the gathering of family and those hours spend shifting, blending, cooking, stewing and preparing the meals. A dream was born and soon she opened up the first Thai eatery from a food truck. It was almost unbelievable the diversity of her customers and their demand of a high quality and authentic taste. Customers clamored to the food truck. A few months and the food truck couldn’t handle the sheer volume of customers for the one weekend per month she was open.
Shortly a retail location was born in Loganville, GA and the sit down restaurant exceeded expectations the first year. Business was great but she was missing something and she knew she wanted her family involved in the restaurant and decided to move closer to her children and her grandchildren. The Thai Mango is much more than just a restaurant. It’s a little vision that turned into a dream and now encompasses her children and grandchildren and now her customers which she calls her extended family in Hiram, GA.
We welcome you to our restaurant and we enjoy being a part of the community here in Hiram. Welcome to the family!
